In addition, Amanda Enterprise also supports Oracle Database on Solaris and Windows. The new Oracle agents in Amanda Enterprise allow IT administrators to perform backups of Oracle Databases on many platforms including Oracle Enterprise Linux. The Windows agent utilizes the Oracle Volume Shadow Copy (VSS) Writer for coordination of storage-based snapshots and RMAN-based recovery of databases on Windows. For Oracle Databases on Linux and Solaris, the Zmanda Oracle Agent works seamlessly with Oracle Recovery Manager (RMAN). Leveraging RMAN capabilities such as block-level corruption detection, file multiplexing, and backup compression, helps ensure backup integrity while optimizing backup performance and space consumption.
